Arl's Army Socks are based on vintage British Army Extreme Cold Weather (ECW) socks. These ECW socks, contracted for the British Army, were standard issue wool socks with a small amount of nylon added for durability.

Arl's Cold Weather Socks are made in Scotland from 70% wool and 30% nylon, providing a finer feel and retaining their shape even after repeated wear. They are finished with ribbed cuffs for optimal comfort.

Wool socks have recently been re-evaluated and are now favored by many mountaineers. Their quick-drying and odor-resistant properties are highly praised.
