Allevol's Postman Duffle Coat takes its inspiration from a style that was issued to Post Office (GPO) workers in the UK in the early 1960's. These were also sometimes issued to the Royal Navy as government issue. They were manufactured by a number of makers but notably by James Smith & Co of Derby. These were fastened by four button wooden toggles.
This 'Pat' has been faithfully reproduced in the UK, sampling originals from the Allevol archive. Cut from a hard-wearing melton wool, woven in Japan's most celebrated wool producing region of Bishu, and manufactured in the UK, the 'Pat' features two large pockets and a button front with traditional toggle closure, while a fixed shoulder cape provides extra warmth. A detachable hood is teamed with button straps at the cuffs and woven Allevol labels complete the look.
