Duffle coats were originally made from a coarse, thick woollen material.
Allevol's postman duffle coat is inspired by a style issued to General Post Office (GPO) employees in the UK in the early 1960s. As a government-issued item, it was also sometimes supplied to the Royal Navy. These were made by many manufacturers, but notably by James Smith & Co. of Derby. They were fastened with four wooden toggle buttons.
This Pat has been faithfully reproduced in the UK, sampling an original from Allevol's archives. Cut from a sturdy Melton wool woven in the Bishu region, famous for Japanese wool textile production, and manufactured in the UK, the "Pat" features two large pockets and a button front with traditional toggle closures, with a fixed shoulder cape for added warmth. A detachable hood is paired with button straps at the cuffs, and woven Allevol labels complete the look.
